Texas Title Transfer with Form 130-U

In a Texas private car sale, the seller hands over the signed Certificate of Title plus the bill of sale, and the buyer completes the title transfer and registration at their county tax assessor-collector office (not a TxDMV regional center). The form the buyer files is Form 130-U — Application for Texas Title and/or Registration.

Documents the buyer brings to the county tax office

  • Proof of Texas auto liability insurance.
